mmSorry, but we need to start wondering if Sean May’s days in the NBA are coming to an end. May is shutting it down for the season.

May has played in just 35 games this season and just 23 last season after being selected with the 13th pick in the NBA draft. The Bobcats had hoped the eloquent and out-going May could be staple of the franchise for years to come.

The former Tar Heel has battled a bum knee now for a solid year. If extensive time off has not healed the injury, it may be down to some sort of micro-surgery in the off-season to correct the problem.

May says he’ll try to drop weight to lessen the pounding on the knee, but let’s face it, Sean has always played a little heavy even when he was leading the Tar Heels to a title in 2005. Besides, 82 games a year is 82 games a year be it at 260 or at 230.

Update: Charlotte Observer reporter Rick Bonnell, in response to a courtesy heads-up email, complains that this post does not “attribute where you got your information.” It is unclear if Rick did not see the link or does not consider the link sufficient attribution.

I have asked Rick Bonnell, reporter for The Charlotte Observer, if he would prefer that I stopped linking to his pieces and instead write in “reports The Charlotte Observer.” I have yet to get a response.

Frankly, however, the links are there for the benefit of the readers, not Rick Bonnell, reporter for The Charlotte Observer.
