Forsyth County Commissioners will not practice nonviolent civil disobedience at its Monday meeting. Chairman Dave Plyler says a moment of silence will replace public prayer, as dictated by federal court.

What remains to be seen is whether or not commissioners will appeal the court’s ruling. Commissioner Walter Marshall opposes an appeal, saying he sees among religious conservatives the “same folks who are against me getting the right to vote and desegregating the public schools.”

Not sure exactly who Marshall’s taking about, but commenter ‘John W-S’ offers up the punchline of the day when he writes “Mr. Marshall hit the nail on the head . . . I can hear George Wallace saying “Sectarian now, sectarian tomorrow, sectarian forever.”
