You may remember the infamous 400,000 deaths study in 2004. It’s results were quickly downgraded then reduced to 112,000 in a another CDC study.

You may have heard the news today that being even a little “overweight” can kill you sooner. Unlike the earlier study, this one was rebutted even before it appeared.
Like the earlier pair of studies, the one that reinforces the obesity
hype got more press. The worst thing about this disparate treatment is
not that BMI is not a good “surrogate for physical inactivity and poor
diet” but that diets aren’t healthy.
