The more I read about the abomination that is HarryCare, the more it appears that the only justification for passing this mess this week is that the Senate Democrats ? all 60 of them ? forgot to buy President Obama a Christmas present.

The latest, from Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., is that the Congressional Budget Office double-counted the presumed Medicare savings from the bill ? the savings that would supposedly make it a deficit-cutter over time.

Sessions has concluded that the bill would not reduce the deficit by $132 billion over 10 years, as the president and Democratic senators have claimed, but instead would boost it by $300 billion over that period. Sessions told Fox News he made those calculations after speaking with CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf.

Now I never believed for a minute that the bill would reduce federal deficits. But even the Dems couldn’t cook the books correctly!

Last I checked, Sen. Reid, you still have time to order a copy of Henry Hazlitt’s Economics in One Lesson for the president. Less than $10 plus shipping. Then you could send the Senate home.
