The N.C. Senate’s consideration of a budget bill this week generated media attention for John Locke Foundation Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray. Gray testified on the bill before the Senate Appropriations Committee. WRAL Television, The Charlotte Observer, the News & Observer, and Mountain XPress all reported on her comments. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted in their daily press email a blog entry from Gray on the Senate budget plan.

Gray also played the lead role for JLF in a joint effort with other North Carolina and Washington-based public policy groups to oppose a proposed dental management bill. That effort attracted attention from WRAL.com, the News & Observer, Fayetteville Observer, and MarketWatch

State lawmakers also addressed this week legislation designed to open the door to hydraulic fracturing — or fracking — for natural gas. Director of Regulatory Studies Jon Sanders discussed the issue during an appearance on News 14 Carolina’s “Capital Tonight.” Sanders also served on every expert panel linked to this week’s N.C. Law Enforcement and Drug Policy Summit.
