Thus far, it’s been a nice run for Basnight who has watched the NC House become ensnared in scandal after scandal. Now one has come to roost under his roof in the form of Sen. Julia Boseman (D-New Hanover) who has admitted illegal drug use under oath amidst other sordid details still forthcoming. But Basnight also knows that Boseman brings a lot of cashola from her gay and lesbian special interest groups so he wants to keep this relationship cozy as long as he can. Commenting on her troubles the long serving leader of the senate said:
“Prior to her being elected, obviously, she made mistakes. She admitted
to those mistakes, and she’s deeply sorry for what happened in her
past,” said Basnight, D-Dare. “In life, if we punish those who make
mistakes, then no one would be elected.”
Of note, she was an elected county commissioner during the admitted drug use. And she is listed as owing over $4,700 in unpaid taxes in New Hanover county on her $1.3 million home. Boseman also backed a bill that would have allowed families or narcotic
users to sue dealers for economic, mental and physical damages. Maybe she knows who her dealer was.
