It was a rather news-less day. Bryan Freeborn asked for another recount. After the first two vote counts, he remains in fourth place, defeated in his run for city council. The probability of getting a different answer this time is equal to the likelihood that those extra ballots can be slipped in or out without anybody noticing.
The Buncombe County Commissioners were supposed to decide tonight if they wanted to raise the fines for non-compliance with stormwater ordinances from $5000/day to $25,000/day. Since most people can’t pay $5000, what’s the difference?
And so the TV station and daily newspaper evidently circulated some misinformation about an item on city council’s agenda, something sensational to fill the time or space. Vice Mayor Holly Jones referenced the misinformation a few times. Unsure of the details, I certainly won’t repeat them.
