Creative Loafing’s Tara Servatius tries one more time to light a fire under Speaker Jim Black.

She repeats her December call for Black to resign and correctly links the Uptown crowd’s reluctance to say a bad word about Black to the $150 million Wachovia office tower/art complex. That project, as we’ve pointed out about 5000 times since our October call for Black’s departure, requires that Black flog a hike in the county’s rental car tax through the General Assembly in the next few weeks.

No Black, no brand-new $150 million showplace Uptown. Is this starting to make sense to anyone?

Let’s put it this way: Jim Black could carjack and pistol-whip a pregnant mom at high noon in full view of WBTV’s Center City Studio at Trade and Tryon and he would still have some defenders Uptown. And you know who you are.
