In this week’s Clarion Call I take a look at “service-learning” courses. They are very popular among college profs and administrators, but there are some dissenters. I’m in that camp. Many profs say that there are educational benefits to including a service-learning component in their courses, but my suspicion is that it’s just wishful thinking, similar to the belief that there are educational benefits to increasing student “diversity.”
