So will the Rev. Al Sharpton show up at a rally for Nick Mackey days before the state Democratic Party takes up the issue of Mackey’s selection as the next sheriff of Mecklenburg County?
If Sharpton does show, does that help or hurt Mackey with the Council of Review?
My guess is that the media coverage of the Mackey affair would have to jump up several more notches in advance of a rally for Sharpton to make a stop at the rally. Right now, it is very much still a local story.
And Sharpton does not do local stories.
Bonus Observation: The last time Sharpton interjected himself into a North Carolina pseudo-racial flap, it was to say of disgraced Durham DA Mike Nifong, “I know this DA is probably not one that is crazy.”
