I would have responded to this story much sooner, but alas, other duties have kept me from doing so. I began to blog on this incident at my alma-mater long ago though and you may find a lengthy post on the events from me here.

In the meantime I should post some links to others who have been following this (more links and commentary on my site):

My friends at Powerline have great commentary and links here.

My friends at Infinite Monkeys have a couple of posts here & here. Apparently after the speech of Ms. Dunn, people began sporting signs in their cars around Claremont: “Pro-Diversity, Anti-Hate.” The Monkeys have created a new message for So. Cal. vehicles: “Pro-Decency, Anti-Hoax.” Nice touch.

You may find an Mp3 of her speech here. Beware: she likes four-letter words and uses the N-word, the WHOLE word. I thought people were supposed to get in trouble for using it? Some people in Wilmington get in trouble for using a word that sounds like it, but, yet, is not the actual word! Anyway, in this speech she makes several references to her car being vandalized and, interestingly she describes her own hatred of those who “hate.”

And since I am on topic of Ms. Dunn, we have found out she has a record: “Dunn has had a few minor brushes with the law while living and working in Nebraska. Dunn attended the University of Nebraska and taught at Nebraska-Wesleyan University in 2001. There was no record of disciplinary action against her at Nebraska-Wesleyan University, said Sara Olson, spokeswoman with the college.

Dunn was arrested by the Lincoln Police Department on September 29, 2000 on suspicion of shoplifting, possessing stolen property, refusing to comply with a police officer’s orders among other charges, records show. All of the charges, which are misdemeanors, were dropped except for the shoplifting charge. She was found guilty and fined $200, according to criminal records.

In September 1999, Dunn was cited on suspicion of driving on a suspended license and failing to appear for a court hearing. She was found guilty of the first charge and paid a $50 fine, records show.” The entire story from my former hometown daily is here.

By the way, I should note, to be fair, that she is denying she vandalized her own car, etc. However, many CMC students are publicly asking her to “shut up” (which was one of the phrases painted on her car). In the words of Drudge, developing…..
