For those of you who don’t live in downtown Tryon, name three places of historic interest there. Don’t feel bad. I can’t either. What’s more, the state didn’t think downtown Tryon was all that historic, either; but that doesn’t mean the Tryon Town Council won’t try again to get the state to include the area in a study to see if it can qualify for the National Historic Register.

Perhaps the place really does ooze with history I can’t appreciate because I’ve lived through it all. Why, just today, I was talking to somebody who thought my former employer was Nikola Tesla.
