I really did not think this was possible, but here we are.
The Uptown Paper of Record quotes Rep. Heath Shuler (D) from his speech to the NRA convention in Uptown today — but does not bother to identify him as a Democrat.
Instead in a rundown that focused on Sarah Palin, we got this:
Palin was the most notable name on a slate of 17 speakers. They included four politicians from the Carolinas, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton and actor Chuck Norris.
N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue, a Democrat, sent a recorded message that didn’t touch on any political issues, but invited convention goers to enjoy hunting and fishing in the state.
“We can hunt for anything you want to hunt for here.”
That sentiment seemed to be echoed by Rep. Heath Shuler, who represents the 11th District of N.C.
“I don’t think there’s another member of Congress who buys more ammunition in a year than I do.”
So the apolitical Democrat gets IDed — but not the guy saying he owns guns and is an avid, active hunter. Gee, how did that happen?
You watch, they’ll double-back and “fix” this howler, claiming it was just an oversight.
