The Herald-Sun reports on rumblings in Carrboro that its anti-loitering law is unconstitutional. The ordinance was enacted to address problems with day laborers who congregate looking for work. I can see the concern over the precedent this sets. If a government entity can make it illegal to simply stand on a street corner, what other basic behavior can it regulate? If those standing on the corner are engaging in illegal activity, then arrest them and charge them.
