A recent article on the Fourth Circuit Court’s ruling on NC’s new voting laws continues to annoy. Moral Monday leader William J. Barber, II maintains the compression of early voting hours, requirements for state ID, and the elimination of same-day voting are racist. I know lawyers can parameterize variables to target their threats without naming them; but it is Barber who is insinuating African-Americans (his term, not mine) are too poor, too slow, too whatever to comply.

The same irony applies to changes in teacher pay. Every teacher received a raise this year. That is more than they have gotten in recent years. If schools are institutions of education, should they be taking marching orders from MM protesters who maintain that accounting is a function of uninformed emotion that feels more is less?
