After viewing Evan Maloney’s powerful documentary, “Indoctrinate U,” at Duke last night, I’m convinced there is no more dysfunctional institution in American society than its universities, unless maybe it’s the mainstream media. This film, which documents the devastating effects of political correctness in America’s colleges and universities, should be required viewing for all state legislatures. Only a threat to tighten the taxpayers’ purse strings is going to straighten out this mess in the public universities. The private ones? Good luck.

The best quote in the film came from Michael Munger, head of the political science department at Duke. He said something to the effect (sorry, didn’t write it down) that the oppressive leftist agenda pushing by professors is an effort to validate their “pathetic” lives. Remembering a couple of two-bit martinets I had to deal with during my brief academic career, I’d say he’s right on.

The craven behavior of presidents and administrators (we in the Triangle know all about that!) was especially appalling. Not one would discuss the issue on camera. Maloney said of the hundreds of emails he sent asking for interviews, only one was answered, and that was with a “no.”

And the outrage continues. Just check out what’s happening at Brandeis.
