Businesswoman Billie Redmond has announced she wants to be mayor of Raleigh. Redmond, a Republican, is the second candidate to put her hat in the ring. Raleigh Councilwoman Nancy McFarlane, who is registered as Unaffiliated, is also running. Mayor Charles Meeker will not seek re-election.
