Congress has to raise the debt ceiling! The nation’s credit rating is going to tank, anyway! Store food and money! You may not be able to afford traveling abroad! Try not to use your credit card or take out a loan!
The Polk County Public Library received $19,000 from the federal deficit for new computer work stations. We may surmise not much was wasted in overhead, as the funds came from:
. . . the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.
The federal government allotted $4,160,471 for North Carolina libraries this year. Why, even multiplied by fifty, that number remains invisible compared to $13 trillion. This is a pittance, because the IMLS is “the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries.”
