The mass turnover on the network evening news shows gave me some initial hope. But Katie, Brian and Charlie quickly dashed my hope that some balance would be created on the evening news.
ABC’s Charles Gibson is running a health care series this week to indoctrinate the public on the virtues of socialized medicine. Just when I think I have seen it all, the network liberals out do themselves. Charlie had the nerve to taut the VA ‘s socialized hospital system as the solution to our health care problems. Most of the story was about the VA’s electronic medical records system. The story ignored all of the recent and longstanding controversies about the quality of the VA’s health care.
Here is a small sample of AP headlines from 2007 on VA problems:
Jan. Senator to probe VA suicide case
Mar House Panel told of warnings about VA
Mar VA hospitals beset with problems
Apr Deaths at LA vets facility probed
Jun Seattle-area VA hospital criticized
And who can forget the controversy over the quality of care at the VA’s Walter Reed Hospital?
During the House hearings on that issue the AP reported:
Rep. Steve Buyer, R-Ind., agreed, citing years of warnings. “I can’t
even begin to count the number of GAO reports over the years outlining
the problems.”
And this is the model for the nation? Come on Charlie, get real. We dare you to interview John Goodman from the National Center for Policy Analysis.
