Speaking of cigars, the William J. Clinton Foundation struck a deal with Pepsi, Coke, and Cadbury Schweppes to sell only juice, water, diet sodas, and other low-calorie drinks in schools.

Here is some common sense from Barry Popkin, a professor of nutrition at the UNC School of Public Health:

Popkin said…that most of those drinks are not consumed at school.

Then we get to the codswallop:

“If they really cared, they’d stop advertising it on TV that kids watch and placing it in movies that are geared for kids,” Popkin said of the beverage companies.

C’mon Barry, why stop there? Let’s ban all soft drink advertising and stop selling soda to those under 18 years old. Then, let’s impose a hefty tax on soda, say 50 cents a can and a $1 on bottles. I am sure you would also like to see police crackdowns on underage soda consumption and DUIS, driving under the influence of soda.
