I highly recommend the latest issue of Environment and Climate News, a monthly publication of the Heartland Institute. In an article by Heartland’s Science Director Jay Lehr it is pointed out that in order to replace a single power plant generating 1000 megawatts of electricity around the clock with wind power it would take 300 square miles of land. This is the equivalent of a “one-mile-wide swath of wind turbines extending from San Francisco to Los Angeles.” This publication is one of the most valuable and accessible resources to the general public on environmental issues. It should be on the shelves of every public library and in the classrooms of every public school.
