We keep hearing from the Left that the government just HAS to do something about the horrible wealth gap between the rich and the poor.
Financial writer John Tamny explains here that if you really want to do something to benefit the poor, cut the taxes on the rich.
Here’s a line from his article that is garlic to the redistributionist vampires: “The simple reality behind wealth creation is that it occurs when society’s most productive members are left to innovate as freely as possible from governmental roadblocks to growth.”
Exactly! Resources left in the hands of successful people get turned into new ventures, meaning better employment opportunities and products that benefit everyone. At the next “YouTube” debate — and I hope there will be more of them — someone ought to ask the candidates who advocate higher taxes to explain why it’s better for the federal government to confiscate wealth than to allow the wealthy to keep using it.
