A headline informs us that a pasta company will create 300 jobs. In case you didn’t know the rest of the story, Governor Beverly Perdue announced the company was enticed to relocate by a government grant:

The grant could yield almost $3 million in maximum benefits if the company meets the targets stated in the grant and sustains them for 10 years.

An uneducated mass might have written something more like, “The company will get up to $3 million in tax breaks if it doesn’t go under by 2022.”
