It looks as if the daughter of one of Gov. Mike Easley’s top advisers will have a chance to challenge the GOP incumbent in the Wake County court clerk’s race.

With about two-thirds of the precincts reporting, Lorrin Freeman leads Mark Perry 59 percent to 41 percent. (Lorrin was the freshman-year roommate of one of my best friends at Carolina, but I’m guessing Democrats won’t hold that against her.)

Incumbent county commissioners chairman Tony Gurley has about a 3-to-1 margin over his challenger in a GOP primary.
