The Hendersonville Salvation Army announced it will no longer work with The Emergency Food Assistance Program. The federal operation had been unpredictable and disappointing in recent months. Cheryl Gudger-Thompson, a volunteer with the Salvation Army, explained the organization continued to receive diminished provisions, but the amount of paperwork it had to do did not justify the bureaucracy. Furthermore, sometimes they would only get four items to feed the needy. Sometimes they would get nothing. The Salvation Army is working on finding other partners who, caring enough about whether or not people starve, will be more reliable.
