Unreal. WCNC has the details on the latest of nine (9) home break-ins in and around the Providence Commons neighborhood
in the past month.
This one involved perps kicking in the front door — what else — but with people home, and then basically holding them hostage — although WCNC never does report exactly what was demanded.
I wonder if CMPD will respond to this report with another press release denying that home invasions are a threat to the “average person.” Or maybe imply that these victims had it coming because they had cash in the home or otherwise were engaged in illegal activity.
Update: Go here to give your input on the kind of police chief you want for CMPD. My ideas: “Should reject Problem-Oriented Policing as the primary organizing principle of CMPD. Should view ALL property crime as gateway crimes toward more serious offenses. Should adopt a process by which CMPD no longer investigates itself in the event of fatal police shootings.”
