Economist Thomas Sowell has often observed that legislation must be analyzed not in terms of its proclaimed good intentions, but in terms of its actual likely results. He doesn’t care for ObamaCare at all in this column calling it the height of arrogance.

Money quote: “What is ‘historic’ is that this will be the first administration to show that it doesn’t care one bit what the public wants or doesn’t want.”

Previous presidents have often relied on public ignorance — the widespread inability to foresee actual likely results — to push through idiotic legislation, but I think Sowell is right in saying that this is unprecedented: an administration that rampages ahead despite the fact that a majority seems to understand that the monstrous Reid and Pelosi bills will accomplish little or no good for them at high cost.
