Fareed Zakaria also treats us this week to an interview with U.S Rep. Bart Gordon, who tries to explain, in Zakaria’s words, “why the private sector alone isn’t up to the challenge” of “finding the fuel of the future.”

What neither Zakaria nor Gordon explains is why diverting resources from their best uses today, thus depriving society of the capital formation that causes economic growth, will not leave us with fewer resources tomorrow to pursue this same fuel of the future.
