Wow. Folks at all interested in comprehending the potential vote-cout morass that is the Iowa caucus need to read Mickey Kaus over at kaufiles/Slate today. He goes into detail, but stick with it because it is important. He explains why there are at least four if not five “counts” on Iowa caucus night, and it is at least conceivable that each of the major Demoratic candidates could end up “winning” at least once. The bottom line is that the news media has a larger role in determining the story out of Iowa than in perhaps any other political contest they report on.

The bottom-bottom line, according to Kaus, is that this is likely good for Edwards because the news media seems to prefer him among the four Iowa contenders.
