A bipartisan group of state lawmakers is pushing for action this year on a proposal to institute new state tax credits for parents of students with special needs.

Sen. Malcolm Graham, D-Mecklenburg, Rep. Marvin Lucas, D-Cumberland, and Rep. Paul Stam, R-Wake, joined Darrell Allison of Parents for Educational Freedom North Carolina and parent Leslie Petruk of Charlotte to describe the credits in a news conference today.
