Recent polls show President Bush is having a tough time convincing
Americans personal accounts are important to reforming
the Social Security system. Writing in the “Q” section of Sunday’s
Raleigh News & Observer, John Hood looked at the program’s 1930s inception to illustrate that the issues of wealth
transfer and progressive indexing are not new, but are now in danger of
being obscured by personal attacks and gamesmanship. His column ran in
