Did some weird plague rot out the spine of every college president in America? These higher-education leaders seem be competing to see who can be the worst coward.
All the usual suspects — Columbia’s Bollinger, Miami’s Shalala and Duke’s Brodhead — make an appearance. Here’s her comment about Brodhead:
Duke President Richard Brodhead didn’t have the guts to demand some proof – or even to wait for charges to be filed: Faced with an outside community that was rushing to judgment, he canceled the entire lacrosse season and demanded the coach’s resignation. Months later, it’s now obvious that the rape/assault never happened.
