WCNC picks up the threads of Stargate Worldwide’s past dealings in Georgia to establish that would-be developer Terry Keeney dreams big, but does not deliver.
Turns out there were not one, but at least two grand development plans the Keeney hatched down in Georgia — a synthetic town to be called Genesis near Allentown and the Dublin USA Music & Motorsports Park — that never got off the ground.
Moreover, ask too many questions about Keeney’s track record on developments of the kind he says he can pull off in Cabarrus County and look at the spite and venom you churn up:
Five hours after NewsChannel 36’s first visit, the I-Team returned to Keeney’s Stargate Worldwide headquarters to see if the $750 million developer had returned from North Carolina.
His son, Aaron, came outside. “You need to not pay attention to the local people because if… I can’t say nothin’ else,” he said. But why not pay attention to the local people? Aren’t they the ones who had contact with Terry Keeney? “Because if they’re not willing to get behind something and willing to change, then…” With that, Aaron Keeney walked back into the converted sheep shearing barn.
Within an hour, his father emailed the I-Team to say he’s not fleecing anyone. “The harder you pry,” the email said, ”the more we will avoid keeping you in the loop. “Do you treat every person that wants to create jobs in Cabarrus County like this? Most people we have met in your area are hard-working, God fearing, folks and don’t take kindly to your negative news report,” the email said, before concluding, ”Maybe you are afraid of Christians?”
Yes Terry that is it exactly.
