State Senate President Pro Tem Marc Basnight might have called him “kooky,” but the state Republican Party is not as nice to Dan Gerlach. N.C. COP chair Linda Daves issued the following statement this morning about Gerlach’s move from the governor’s office to the top job at the Golden LEAF Foundation:

“This is just another example of the revolving door of the iron-fisted Democrat power structure present in Raleigh.  Cronies of the ruling establishment move from public to private positions and back as powerful politicians pull the strings.  Meanwhile, North Carolina communities and families continue to face the same problems with no solutions in sight.  The Easley-Perdue administration has been a failure for North Carolina’s communities struggling in a difficult economy with more jobs being lost each month.  We need new ideas.  We can get back on the right track but we will not do so by rearranging the chairs in Raleigh.  We can do better than the status quo with new leadership in state government.”

I’ll refrain at this time from poking fun at my fellow Columbus, Ohio, native, though I will remind you of times we’ve poked fun at him in the past.
