In yesterday’s State-of-the-City address, Raleigh mayor Charles Meeker outlined plans for Raleigh to become “an even ‘greener’ city.”

Among his plans: increase the number of plug-in stations for electric vehicles, continued efforts for all City buildings to receive LEED certification, and development of solar photovoltaic array projects. Up next?

A $25 million to $35 million bond referendum on transportation improvements [that] would concentrate on small road projects, alternative transportation, sidewalks, bikeway striping, greenways and other multimodal projects.

Time to tighten your belts, Raleigh taxpayers!
