- Elaine Marshall and Richard Burr are landsliding.
- In the 11th Congressional District, Heath Shuler is leading with almost 60% of the Democrat vote, and the Republican race is too close to call, but it is between Jeff Miller and Dan Eichenbaum.
- In the State House primaries, Patsy Keever has about 60% of the Democrat vote for District 115; Phil Haire has 75% for District 119.
- R. L. Clark has 56% of the Republican vote for State Senate District 49. Roger West has 74% of the vote for District 120.
- Ann Marie Calabria, Steven Walker, and Kate Dreher are leading, but none by a formidable margin.
