In his column today, Sheldon Richman discusses a recent exchange between an Australian economist who believes in government intervention and George Mason’s Russ Roberts, who mostly does not. The truly revealing point is when Roberts asks why we shouldn’t give the free market a try, since our current system is far from the laissez-faire ideal. The Aussie replies that “pure communism was never given a try either.”
