Guess which rock & roller offered the following response in 1969, when European interviewers tried to goad him into criticizing the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War:

Did you send the Americans away when they landed in Normandy? … No, but then that was concerning your own skin. The Americans are fighting in Vietnam for the complete free world…. Of course, war is horrible, but at present, it’s still the only guarantee to maintain peace.

Those words came from a former paratrooper from the 101st Airborne, who also happened to be the greatest lefthanded guitarist rock ever produced: Jimi Hendrix.
