Are we to believe nouns, as in point-in-time snapshots, are appropriate, and verbs and what they do to nouns are not? At issue is stream bank restoration, $150,000 worth of state assistance for a $300,000 (?) project. One can only wonder what happened in the eons prior to the appearance of Homo sapiens in the evolutionary timetable. It turns out that rain makes mud that washes into rivers, destroying trout habitat and wrecking the scenic experience for park visitors. It is therefore important to put the stream back to its magnificent, antediluvian grandeur and make sure it stays that way with properly sloped and vegetated banks. OK, so we need a little movement or else the rivers would be lakes, but I suppose there is a handbook somewhere defining which flow rates qualify as natural.
