Local governments have been wondering how legislation to cap local business license fees would affect their budgets. Now, Hendersonville leadership has done the math and concluded their town would lose $300,000, all other factors being equal. If the bill passes, Hendersonville city councilors might get a hankering to raise municipal taxes 2 cents. This comes on the heels of the squashing of a recent suggestion from the interim city manager, Lee Galloway, that taxes be increased 3 cents. City councilors instead approved running a bond referendum past the people.
