The Mountaineer has an article entitled, “Full Economic Recovery Still Eludes North Carolina.” These philosophical dissertations leave one wondering if there is no news or if the news is just too petty for today’s readers. Anyhoo, the article, as you may surmise, is a compilation of “even thoughs.”

Create your very own article on the economy using six sentences. Begin each with, “Even though,” and then match an observation from Group A with an excuse from Group B:

Group A:

  1. you don’t have a job,
  2. none of your friends are employed,
  3. you are making $20,000 less than you were pre-recession,
  4. you would rather be using your talents and training on the job,
  5. you used up all your savings,
  6. things are getting really funky at the shelter,

Group B:

  1. recovery is just around the corner.
  2. your condition is unique and found only in obscure anomalies statewide.
  3. population increases have far outstripped phantasmagoric job creation.
  4. the problem is targeted on your minority status.
  5. the worst is past.
  6. the rest of the country is booming.
