Cato Institute’s Neal McCluskey has a very good post about Common Core here. He concludes that the “end game” for this gambit is “complete federal control by connecting national standards and tests to federal funding.”

You might view it as the educational equivalent of using Obamacare as the path to a “single payer” system. And in neither education nor health care does the federal government really have any constitutional authority.

We need — desperately — to reverse course away from centralized control in Washington and toward the uncentralized control by market competition.
