I wish I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard a politician proclaim that he’s going to focus on job creation. That almost invariably means some new governmental program that will supposedly “put people back to work.” In his latest column, John Stossel takes aim at that foolish notion. Government gets in the way of the creation of jobs that produce goods and services that people want. It does so by diverting resources into political projects where costs often exceed benefits and by depressing the incentives for people to produce.
