I liked Donna’s blog about John’s “Strange Money” although I’m not really sure in what way it might be “strange”.

Maybe because it’s strange that we’re spending it.

Maybe it’s strange because we’re even considering it.

Or maybe it’s strange because it seems a little more like we’ve entered a strange new way of looking at the world.

Regardless,
we should add $487 million in light-rail (Charlotte’s Light Rail
proposal current figure) to Donna’s $695 million (Raleigh’s proposed
light rail).  That takes us to roughly $1.2 billion in tax-payer
folly for transit in NC areas that don’t need it.

Interesting
that it coorelates to the rough figure that NC is facing as a budget
shortfall.  Unrelated of course, but strange nonetheless.
But wait, there’s more, how much money has the state borrowed from the
State Highway Trust Fund money that might have actually been used for
transit issues to improve or expand roads?

At the signpost ahead. . . .
