Two pieces today address whether the war against terror is a clash of civilizations.

First, Ali Al-Ahmed, director of the Saudi Institute in Washington, D.C., writes in the WSJ that the Wahhabi-controlled Saudi government treats the Quran and other religious texts with less respect than the possibly nonexistent soldiers in Gitmo.

Next,  Robert Pape of U-Chicago, writes in the NYT that suicide bombings are about strategy, not religion.
I know, it’s shocking! but he has the numbers to back it up, having
examined 315 suicide attacks in different countries and has been saying
this for nearly two years.
