One would expect that the United States Students Association would advocate for issues of interest to students – lower tuition, access to quality, affordable education and student loan policy. Like any other interest group, they have an agenda.

However, the agenda focuses on more than just student issues.

In a recent mailing to the NC State Student Government, USSA included more than 15,000 fliers that they “instructed” the student government to use for “documenting” all new on-campus registrations. The flier suggests that newly registered students should be interesting in a wide array of issues – all calling for bigger, more intrusive government.

Here are a few of the issues they think students should be interested in:

* Accessible & Comprehensive Health Care
* Required paid sick days and the “living wage,” which they include under the heading of “Healthy Jobs & Economy”
* Climate Justice & Clean Energy
* Affordable Housing
* Public financing of elections
* An end to “predatory” lending practices
