Unlike the zealous National Academy of Sciences here in the U.S., the Royal Society in Britain seems to have come to its senses about global warming:

“Any public perception that science is somehow fully settled is wholly incorrect — there is always room for new observations, theories, measurements.” This contradicts a comment by the society’s previous president, Lord May, who was once quoted as saying: “The debate on climate change is over.”

That’s a startling reversal. Why, it was only about a year ago that anyone who questioned whether the science was settled was accused of being a flat-Earther who liked wearing tin-foil hats.

On our shores, however, the lunatics still reign in the academy. Read our National Academy’s position below and compare it to the Royal Society’s reasonable statement above:

“Climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for — and in many cases is already affecting — a broad range of human and natural systems.”
