The nasty realities of the “Affordable Care Act” are starting to hit people who, up until now, were zealous supporters of Obama and his visions for transforming America. In this Cato@Liberty post, David Boaz comments on a New York Times piece about upscale professionals who supported Obama but are now finding that his “signature” piece (pile, I’d say) of legislation is wrecking the insurance plans they used to rely on.

Boaz makes an especially sharp observation on the way Obamacare is destroying the mediating institutions — a Tocquevillian concept — that protect the individual against calamities.
