Lt. Governor Walter Dalton visited Asheville Monday. Reports repeated on WWNC claimed he came to “help identify emerging” economic sectors. My idea of a healthy economy is one in which people produce and trade. Adding overhead to help identify emerging sectors only adds value if exchanges are improved with third-party remote intervention and posturing. I prefer to believe private parties know what they want and need better than a Big Brother. Some who disagree will argue there is the “ignorance factor” for which government is supposed to compensate, and yet those who are telling folks they’re smart enough to make their own decisions are construed as the bad guys.
