NOTE: This link is from 2008, so I’m doing an Emily Litella “Never Mind” on this. I’ll learn to check the dates next time on the links at the news aggregator site that linked to this today.

Gov. Bev Perdue, who vetoed N.C.’s voter ID law, Democrats, race-card players, and Hispanic pro-illegal immigration groups in North Carolina must be beside themselves:

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws.

In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana’s strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said it was needed to prevent fraud.

I always love the adjectives that the mainstream media use to describe court decisions that don’t go their way. “Splintered” is a new one on me. If it had gone the other way with a 6-3, you can be sure it would have been described as “firm” or “definitive,” or some such positive adjective.

I also love the way they immediately run the Democratic nonsense spin about this hurting blacks and the elderly. Here’s an idea some blogger mentioned the other day (sorry, can’t remember which one). If the left is so concerned about minorities and the elderly not having photo IDs, why don’t they spend some of their energy helping them get them?

I guess they’re too busy defecating on cop cars, vandalizing businesses, and putting minimum wage workers out of work.
